Washington, D.C. – On May 12, 2023, President Joe Biden unveiled his selection for crucial leadership roles within his administration. These nominees, if confirmed, will assume key positions to serve the American people effectively.

Sean Patrick Maloney has been nominated for the role of Representative of the United States of America to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the rank of Ambassador. Previously, Maloney served as a Representative for New York’s 18th congressional district from 2013 to 2023. He also made significant contributions as a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Maloney has an impressive legislative record, having authored over 40 laws. Prior to his congressional service, he worked as President Clinton’s White House Staff Secretary and was involved in the establishment of a financial services software company. Maloney’s experience also extends to the legal field, where he served as a partner in two global law firms. Born and raised in Hanover, New Hampshire, he attended public schools before pursuing undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Virginia. Notably, Maloney is recognized as the first openly LGBT person elected to Congress from New York and the highest-ranking openly LGBT individual to serve in the House. He and his husband, Randy Florke, have been together for 30 years and have three children.

In another important nomination, Jack A. Markell has been selected for the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino. Markell brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the Governor and State Treasurer of Delaware. He currently holds the position of Representative of the United States of America to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, with the rank of Ambassador. Markell also served as the White House Coordinator of Operation Allies Welcome and was the President of Jack Markell Consulting, LLC. His previous professional engagements include roles as Senior Vice President of Comcast Corporation and Nextel Communications. Markell has held leadership positions in various governmental organizations, serving as Chair of the National Governors Association, President of the Council of State Governments, and Chair of the Democratic Governors Association. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies and Economics at Brown University, followed by an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
