Sunday, May 14th, 2023 – The Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that occurred this morning in the Seaford area, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old man from Bridgeville, DE.
At approximately 5:34 a.m., a 1999 Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high speed on Hearns Pond Road towards the intersection with Conrail Road. The intersection is controlled by a four-way stop sign. Instead of stopping, the Toyota continued through the intersection and even went over a nearby railroad crossing, causing the vehicle to become airborne. After landing in the middle of Hearns Pond Road, the car started rotating in a northwesterly direction. It eventually veered off the road, crossed a ditch, and collided with a tree.
Unfortunately, the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The authorities are currently withholding the victim’s identity until his next of kin can be notified.
