Arrests made during policing operation for the Coronation

London, UK – A policing operation conducted in central London for the Coronation resulted in a total of 64 arrests yesterday (Saturday, 6 May) for various offenses, including breach of the peace and conspiracy to cause a public nuisance. Following the arrests, charges have been filed against four individuals.

One person has been charged with a religiously aggravated offense under Section 5 of the Public Order Act. They are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 May. Another individual has been charged with possession of Class A drugs and will also appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 May. A third person facing charges of possession of Class A drugs is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 26 May. Lastly, an individual charged under Section 5 of the Public Order Act is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 26 May.

Additional details of the operation include:

  • One person was arrested on a warrant for non-payment of fines and remains in police custody.
  • 32 individuals were arrested for conspiracy to cause a public nuisance and have been released on bail.
  • 14 individuals were arrested for a breach of the peace and have also been released on bail.
  • Several individuals were arrested on various charges including possession of noxious spray, racially aggravated public order offenses, harassment, possession of Class A drugs, going equipped to steal, handling stolen goods, sexual assault, common assault, and motor vehicle interference. They have all been released on bail, pending further investigation.
  • One person was arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act and received a penalty notice.
  • Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace but were released without further action.
